Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) is a specialist organization active in the fields of poverty alleviation, sustainable protection of natural resources and the strengthening of social structures. BORDA was established as a non-profit organisation in 1977with the mission to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged communities. It aims to improve the environment through the expansion of Decentralised Basic Needs Services in the areas of sanitation, water and energy supply as well as wastewater and solid waste disposal. BORDA emphasizes on decentralised sanitation including wastewater treatment and solid waste management therefore “Improved Sanitation for All”.

BORDA‘s objective and approach
The main objective is to provide basic need services to the poor in rural and urban areas in Asia in a manner that can be self-sustained.
