Anita Miya works with Aga Khan Planning and Building Service, India as Chief – Water and Sanitation. She has done Masters in Economics and Urban and Regional Planning. She is working in the field of development for last 25 years. She began her career with Programme Support Unit-PSU- Indo Dutch Bilateral programme in eastern part of Utter Pradesh – as social scientist in water and sanitation sector.
Thereafter, she worked with Tata Institute Social Sciences and Muniwar Abad Charitable trust on the issues of urban housing, sanitation and water management. At AKPBSI, she is responsible for providing strategic leadership to water and Environment sanitation programs
Her areas of interest include programme and strategic planning, organizational development and community /stakeholder participation and interfacing.
She has presented many papers in National/International Seminars e.g.“ Women’s voices at UN Habitat agenda – New York in 2005, Sanitation – A new way of life adopted by rural women in Gujarat at Global Health Conference ,Washington – 2011, Sanitation and Urban Issues- a case study of Slum Sanitation Programme in Mumbai- at Mumbai University, 2003, Co-authored – Assessment and feasibility of housing policies for slum Dwellers in Navi Mumbai
