Recycle and Reuse of Treated Wastewater
As India faces a scarcity of fresh water with the sources for the same being continuously depleted, society will have to identify greater opportunities to use recycled wastewater. Treated wastewater can safely be used for gardening, landscaping, irrigation, recharge of ground water and water bodies or even for domestic use. It is also cost efficient for many businesses to use treated wastewater for various processes. However, from regulations, technologies to social behavior, the acceptance for recycle and reuse has yet to arrive as there are both positive and negative implications to it. The management of wastewater involves a complicated interplay of many actors and stakeholders, which makes the subject challenging to create consensus.
The NSSWS will highlight important aspects of “Recycle and Reuse of Treated Wastewater” by inviting various national stakeholders to showcase the challenges and future opportunities.
