CAWST- Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology
Suneel Rajavaram has been working with CAWST- Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology as an International Technical Advisor since January 2012. He covers the region of South Asia and Middle East and is based at Calgary, Canada.
Suneel has a master’s degree in civil engineering from LD Engineering College, Ahmedabad, a post-graduate Diploma in rural management from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand and a post-graduate certificate in international project management from Humber College, Toronto, Canada. He has 20 years of experience in implementing projects in irrigation, water, sanitation and hygiene sectors. Before CAWST, Suneel worked with World University Service of Canada, a Canadian NGO as Field Director for Planation Communities Project in Sri Lanka. Prior to that Suneel worked as a Water and Habitat Delegate with the International Committee of the Red Cross in Darfur, Sudan.
Suneel has worked in 13 countries spanning across Asia, Africa and North America. He worked extensively in implementing sanitation projects and capacity building assignments in a number of countries, including Afghanistan, India, Cambodia, Malawi and Sri Lanka. In these positions he learned about the challenges of capacity building in sanitation, and developed strong insights into how to develop capacity.
